Is

“My art is meant to express the human soul-crafted to be touched, felt and experienced-not only seen. Using skills honed growing up in the Yukon, I forage, grow, or reuse nearly all of my materials. Many pigments come from nature—blueberry husks, ground stone, bark, cabbage, flowers, mushroom dyes, cherries, tomatoes, turmeric-combined with India and archival inks, grated recycled gold, melted copper and both bio and recycled resins. Each piece carries a poem forged by math; every line and degree holds meaning. My work moves between the freedom of abstract, the emotion of expressionism, and the metaphorical depth of surrealism. I thrive when my mind is full, my hands are gritty and the blowtorch is in use. Inspired by Sri Lankan colour-binding traditions, my techniques honour my ancestors while creating art that invites connection, inclusivity, and emotional engagement for all collectors and art lovers.”

Leah Day?

She strives to highlight the connection between self-love, community and taking daily action for our planet.

Leah Day Arts is a passionate queer advocate for 2SLGBTQ+ support systems, because that is what she needed as a mixed-race Sri Lankan in-the-closet gay youth. She has been an artist vendor at Vancouver City Pride for over a decade and a musical performer in dozens of venues throughout the Lower Mainland.

A lifelong environmentalist, Leah grew up on Lake Laberge, where her early experiences fostered a deep love of nature. Many of her works address global crises, often featuring the shark-an innocent bystander made to appear frightening, reflecting humanity’s misunderstanding and exploitation of the natural world. In Leah’s vision, we are all the shark: vulnerable yet valuable, a vital part of a larger ecosystem and connected to the world around us. Through her art, she fosters awareness, empathy, and connection to nature while celebrating self-love, community, and conscious daily action.

Leah lives in Vancouver with her photographer wife, dog, cats, multiple chickens and happy kiddlet.

She invites you to explore her work on Instagram and Facebook: @leahdayarts for sneak peeks and exclusive content.

Leah respectfully acknowledges that she resides on the land of the Coast Salish peoples–Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), Stó:lō and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations.

Dozens of commissioned artworks across the globe from Australia, Netherlands, South Asia, South America and North America. She also has a line of apparel promoting Community and Equality as well as numerous designs featuring her artwork.
